Playoff History

2000
In the inaugural year of the RFL, there were 8 teams with only 4 teams making the playoffs. The Website was hosted on Yahoo's free fantasy football website.

2001
In the 2nd year of the RFL, the league expanded to 10 teams and 8 teams made the playoffs. Again the RFL was hosted by Yahoo.

2002
In 2002, the league expanded to 12 teams and spilt up into 2 Divisions with 8 teams making the playoffs. That year, the league moved up to the Yahoo Premium website.

2003
The RFL continued to use the Yahoo Premium website.

The RFL2 was in its second year and was created because of the overwhelming demand to join the RFL. But the two leagues remained separate with different rules and playoff systems until 2005.

2004
This season in the RFL, the league rewarded the two Division winners with a bye week and only 6 teams made the playoffs. The league also get rid of tie games, instead implementing bench points as the tiebreaker. Also, the RFL moved from Yahoo to CBS Sportsline.

2005
In 2005, the RFL and RFL2 merged to create the RFL North and South. The teams would have separate drafts and schedules but play one another in the final week for the Super Bowl.
